Warhammer 40K’s Astra Militarum epitomizing humanity’s industrial-scale war across galaxies.

This project produces unprecedented cutaway posters of iconic vehicles, revealing intricate inner workings and hidden details, enriching the lore and immersing fans deeper into the universe as its popularity and narrative complexity continue
to expand.

The Challenge

Creating a cutaway of a 40,000-era military vehicle presents a unique challenge: the exterior is iconic and widely recognized, yet official references to the interior are scarce.

Every component must be imagined plausibly, balancing functional engineering, fictional technology, and the franchise’s established aesthetic to satisfy dedicated fans while maintaining authenticity and believability in the universe’s grimdark setting.

The Research

Creating accurate cutaway references required extensive research, from studying real-world tank manuals and reference books to visiting specialized military museums. Examining vehicles up close, taking detailed photos, and making careful notes allowed for an authentic sense of scale, structure, and mechanical function, ensuring the fictional designs feel believable, grounded, and true to both engineering principles and the 40,000 universe aesthetic.
